Blemish Solutions

It's been a year since I last posted here. 😬

Writing motivation has alluded me until just now as I was finishing up a new Instagram post.

I decided to post about the products that are currently helping me to battle a period induced hormonal blemish, and I felt like expanding on the subject a little more...

Most of the time if I get any pimples or brake outs, they're small and mostly, or even completely, painless.

But for the past several months I've been getting one big, PAINFUL hormonal spot around the time of my period that takes AGES to go away!

While the products pictured above do not make it magically go away overnight, they do help reduce its appearance, and (most importantly) eliminate the pain!

Of these products, the one I've used the longest is the Clinique For Men Exfoliating Tonic.

I originally bought it to test out as a possible solution for my younger brother when he was having some bad breakouts in his teens. It worked really well for him, and I've kept a bottle around for myself ever since.

It's a very mild salicylic acid toner that helps to clear most of my zits and break outs in just a few days. Some even disappear over night!

For the hormonal spot I'm currently fighting, the results aren't quite as swift. (my hormonal spots can't be reasoned with 😮‍💨) But it does help to reduce it!

Next, we have the Starface Hydro-Star Pimple Patches. (And their Big Yellow compact)

After seeing tons of people recommended them online (including That Cho recommending them as a mosquito bite cure), I bought a pack.

They do help with mosquito bites, though whether that's because of the hydrocolloid or because they stop things from brushing up against the mosquito bite, I'm not sure.

But they definitely work wonders for blemishes!

Most of my spots will be mostly or completely gone in just a day or two.

For my monthly stubborn hormonal spot, they help to reduce its appearance, but mostly (& most importantly) stop it from hurting.

They also come in other colors besides yellow, as well as a cloud shaped version. And they have a larger size, too!

My one complaint is that the star shape (while very cute) is sometimes a little difficult to peel off its plastic card without the little star arms folding over.

Usually, it's not enough to matter, or it doesn't happen at all, but last night one of the arms fold on itself, and I couldn't unstick it. (Though, I mostly blame it on this month's chaotic, clumsy, "nothing is going right" type of period 🫠)

I used the Hanhoo blemish patches for the first time last night. I had bought them out of curiosity when I bought a refill of my Starface patches, but then I misplaced them.

I found them last night, and decided to try them after ruining my Starface patch (😢). So far, they seem to work just as well as my Starface patches (although my hormonal spot is on its way out).

They are round and slightly thicker than the Starface patches, so I didn't have any problems with application. (Even in my currently particularly clumsy mood)

They are clear/translucent and turn white as they get to work. I was worried that the patch would become more visible as it turned white, but when I woke up today (after wearing the patch all night) it had turned white, but was still nearly invisible.

This pack includes two sizes of patches, and Hanhoo also sells small hydrocolloid sheets that you can cut to a custom shape or size.

They also have "Extra Strength" patches infused with salicylic acid and "Soothing" patches infused with tea tree, aloe vera, and madecassic acid. I haven't tried either, yet, but I intend to get both next time I go shopping.

That's all I have for now.

Hopefully my writing motivation will continue! I do have some lip balms that I'll be posting about soon on Instagram, that could potentially make a blog post. And some lip products that I could review. 🤔

So hopefully I'll be posting again soon!

Till then, share your go to remedy is for zits/break-outs in the comments!
